Police probe reports of gunshots near Barrowlands in Glasgow

Police are investigating reports of gunshots outside a concert hall in Glasgow.

Loud bangs, believed to be a firearms discharge, were heard on the Gallowgate near the Barrowland Ballroom at about 21:50 on Saturday.

Irish band The Wolfe Tones were playing at the venue at the time.

Police Scotland said they had not had reports of any injuries and inquiries were ongoing. They urged anyone with information to contact them.

Det Insp Gillian Patrick said: "Officers, including specialised search and forensic teams remain in the area to speak to local residents and businesses.

"There was a concert in the Barrowlands last night, and the Gallowgate was busy with revellers enjoying a Saturday night out.

"It is possible that other members of the public may have heard something just before 10pm. If you have any information that can assist, I ask that you contact officers at London Road on 101."
