Three men are to stand trial accused of murdering a 60-year-old man at his home in Prestwick, South Ayrshire.

Harry Hood, 44, Dale Russell, 35, and Ross Russell, 34, deny killing Arthur Green on 19 November last year.

It is alleged that Mr Green was kicked, punched and stamped on and repeatedly hit on the head with a rod.

Lawyers for Mr Hood, of Ayr, Mr Russell, of Girvan, and Ross Russell, of Maidens, entered not guilty pleas and bail for all of them was continued.

At the High Court in Glasgow, judge Lord Boyd set a trial due to start next May.

The murder charge further states "by means to the prosecutor unknown" violence was inflicted upon Mr Green.

All three accused face a separate allegation - that between the day of the alleged murder and 12 December 2014 - they attempted to defeat the ends of justice.

This includes a claim that footwear belonging to Ross Russell was destroyed and a car was valeted.
