North Lanarkshire Council leader cleared over repairs firm
The leader of North Lanarkshire Council has been cleared of any wrongdoing over his links to the boss of a firm which has a multi-million pound housing repair contract with the authority.
Labour's Jim McCabe is friends with Mears Scotland boss, Willie Docherty.
He was reported to the Public Standards Commissioner for not declaring the relationship at council meetings where the Mears contract was discussed.
After investigating the commissioner said Mr McCabe did nothing wrong.
In his report, Standards Commissioner Bill Thomson concluded: "Having considered the information that arose from my investigation, I concluded that, the matters raised against Councillor James McCabe did not amount to a contravention of the Councillors' Code of Conduct."
