Clydebank body is believed to be missing pensioner Janet McKay

Police believe a body found in Clydebank is that of a missing 88-year-old woman from Glasgow.

Janet McKay, who had dementia, was last seen by neighbours in Dykebar Avenue, Knightswood, at 12:00 on 16 September.

On Wednesday, police released a CCTV image of Ms McKay in Clydebank on the day she was reported missing.

They have now said that a body found in the Clydebank area at 10:30 on Thursday is believed to Ms McKay. There are no suspicious circumstances.

Police Scotland said formal identification had yet to take place but Ms McKay's family had been informed.

A post-mortem examination will be held to establish the cause of death.
