Man arrested over death of Saltcoats pensioner Malcolm Ballantyne

A 32-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of 72-year-old Malcolm Ballantyne in North Ayrshire.

Mr Ballantyne's body was discovered by a family member at his home in Glebe Place, Saltcoats, on 21 August.

Police Scotland confirmed a man was being held in custody and a report would go to the procurator fiscal.

The charity Crimestoppers had offered a £10,000 reward for information which secured an arrest and conviction.
