A 26-year-old man is being treated for serious face and head injuries after two men subjected him to "a very vicious attack" in Glasgow's east end.

The victim was assaulted in Castlelaw Gardens, in the Springboig area, at about 08:05 on Monday.

He is currently in a stable condition at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

One suspect wore a red hooded top and the other wore a green hooded top. Both also wore high visibility vests.

After the attack they ran off along Castlelaw Gardens into nearby Cockenzie Street.

Det Insp Davie Stewart, of Police Scotland, said: "This was a very vicious attack carried out in broad daylight and I'm sure there would have been members of the public heading out to work who may have seen the suspects either hanging around the area or running off afterwards.

"The 26-year-old man has been left with very serious injuries which will require extensive medical attention and it is vital that we trace those responsible."
