Drug dealer Alexander McMillan jailed for 50 months

A drug dealer who was caught with amphetamine with a street value of £83,000 has been jailed for 50 months.

Alexander McMillan, 35, was caught with more than 1.5kg of the drug at his home in Garthamlock, Glasgow, on 21 June last year.

The High Court in Edinburgh heard that police recovered bags containing drugs, digitals scales and a "tick list" showing money owed for drug sales.

McMillan pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of the drug.

He claimed that he had "felt pressured" into dealing after being told that he was responsible for the debt of a friend who had died in a car crash.

Jailing him, judge Lord Turnbull told McMillan: "Whatever the precise circumstances were you decided to become a drug dealer."

The judge told him he would have faced a five and a half years sentence, but for his guilty pleas.
