Man dies after crash on A737 in Beith, North Ayrshire

A 30-year-old man has died following a two-car crash in Beith, North Ayrshire.

The man's southbound Volkswagen Golf collided with a northbound Volkswagen Polo, on the A737, near Manrahead roundabout, at about 16:35 on Thursday.

He died at the scene. The 25-year-old male Polo driver was treated for injuries at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley and later released.

His passenger, a 48-year-old woman, remains in a serious but stable condition at the same hospital.

Sgt Kevin Blackley, of Police Scotland, said: "The A737 where the crash happened was extremely busy at the time of the incident last night.

"I would urge any witnesses who have not yet spoken to officers to come forward as a matter of urgency as they may have information that is vital to our investigation."
