Police say they are "increasingly concerned" for a vulnerable man who has gone missing in East Dunbartonshire.

Stephen Watt, 66, was last seen at about 11: 00 on Sunday when he left his home in Craigenbay Crescent, Lenzie, to go to the local shops.

Police said he had never gone missing before and his family were "extremely worried about him" as he had recently been dealing with personal issues.

Mr Watt is said to often walk in the area of Bothlyn Bank Cottage Waterfall.

He is described as white, about 5ft 10in tall, of medium build with short grey hair and blue eyes.

When last seen he was clean shaven and wearing a dark brown fleece jacket and tan trousers.

Insp Iain Greene, of Police Scotland, said: "Extensive inquiries are under way but, so far, all efforts to locate him have proved unsuccessful.

"Stephen is fit and able but he is not adequately dressed for this cold weather and we are increasingly concerned for his welfare.

"If anyone has seen Stephen or has any knowledge as to his whereabouts please do contact police immediately."
