A man who admitted killing a woman at her home in East Ayrshire is to stand trial for murder.

James Morley admitted to the culpable homicide of 46-year-old Elaine Duncan at the flat in Newmilns on 18 April.

Prosecutors rejected his plea at the High Court in Glasgow. Judge Lord Uist set a trial due to begin in December.

Mr Morley, 40, faces separate charges of assaulting a man and behaving in a threatening and abusive manner at a pub in Newmilns, which he denies.
