Teenage girl assaulted in Milton of Campsie

A 16-year-old girl has been assaulted by a man who came up behind her in Milton of Campsie.

The girl was walking along Campsie Road, approaching the junction of Lochiel Road, at about 01:20 on Sunday when she was attacked.

He was described as white, about 5ft 3in tall, with a thin build and short dark hair. He was wearing a dark, waist-length jacket with the hood up.

The jacket collar had grey and white spots on it.

He was also wearing dark jogging bottoms and spoke with a local accent.

The girl suffered minor facial injuries however she did not require hospital treatment.

Detectives have been reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area and carrying out door-to-door inquiries.

Det Sgt Colin MacRitchie said: "Although the young girl did not require hospital treatment, she has been left extremely upset by the incident and it's imperative we trace the man responsible.

"I am asking anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident to please get in touch with us. Perhaps you saw the suspect either prior to or following the attack, you may even think your information is not important but please let us be the judge of that and do get touch."
