Christopher Collins jailed for raping schoolgirl in Airdrie
A man who admitted raping a 15-year-old girl after plying her with alcohol at his parents' home has been jailed for five years and three months.
Christopher Collins, 31, took the girl to the house in Airdrie in June last year while his parents were on holiday.
He raped her after giving her vodka and beer. Police were alerted by the girl's mother after she returned home distressed and wearing men's clothing.
Collins was also placed on the sex offenders' register.
The High Court in Glasgow heard how the victim had gone with Collins as he drove her friends home.
Afterwards, Collins claimed he had to stop off at his parents' home in North Lanarkshire to pick something up.
While there, he plied the teenager with alcohol and later had sex with her when she was not able to give consent.
The victim's mother became worried about her daughter and called Collins.
He claimed he had been looking after the girl after she got drunk.
The mother demanded he bring her daughter home as she had appeared fine earlier that night.
The woman later called police when the girl arrived homes in a "distressed" state and wearing men's clothes.
Collins was questioned and forensic tests confirmed he had sex with the girl that night.
