Lee Anderson to stand trial over Javaid Ali death
A man is to stand trial accused of murdering a shopkeeper who was fatally stabbed at his Renfrewshire store.
Lee Anderson, 31, is accused of killing Javaid Ali at the Sunshine Grocers in Green Road, Paisley, on 15 June 2012.
It is alleged he struck the 48-year-old on the neck and wrist with a knife or similar instrument.
Mr Anderson, who is from Paisley, pleaded not guilty at a preliminary hearing at the High Court in Glasgow. His trial is due to begin in August.
Father-of-three Mr Ali is said to have been left so severely injured that he died at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley on 29 June last year.
More than 60 officers were brought in to investigate his death.
A £50,000 reward for information was offered by Crimestoppers and the Association of Convenience Stores and Scottish Grocers Federation.
The inquiry was also the subject of an appeal on the BBC's Crimewatch programme in July 2012.
