Death of man in Alexandria flat 'suspicious' say police

Police are treating the death of a man whose body was found in a flat in West Dunbartonshire as suspicious.

The man, who has not been identified, was discovered at the flat in Beechwood Drive, Alexandria, at about 01:50.

Police were called by a member of the public and later cordoned off the area to carry out their inquiries.

A spokeswoman for the Strathclyde force said a post-mortem examination would be held in due course to try and identify how the man died.

"A police investigation is ongoing into the death of an as-yet-unidentified man within a flat in Beechwood Drive, Alexandria on Friday 4 January," the spokeswoman said.

"Extensive police inquiries have been carried out to establish the circumstances surrounding the death and the identity of the man.

"A post-mortem examination will be held in due course. However, in the meantime police are treating the death as suspicious."
