Johnstone armed robbery targets Keystore in Ness Road

Two men armed with what appeared to be a firearm and a knife have robbed a convenience store in Johnstone.

The raid took place at about 21:10 on Saturday. They made off on foot with cash from the till.

Police said the 40-year-old owner of the Keystore and a 51-year-old assistant were left "badly shaken".

Detectives investigating the robbery have been calling on local residents and have started to examine CCTV images from the area.

The suspects appeared to be in their 20s, of slim build and around 5ft 10in tall.

The first was wearing a blue, hooded jumper and had a grey and black tartan scarf over his face. He had on dark blue jeans and black trainers.

The second was wearing a dark grey or black hooded top and had a dark coloured scarf over his face. He had on a white t-shirt, blue jeans and white trainers.

Det Sgt Steven Adams said: "This has been a very frightening experience for the members of staff within the shop.

"I would appeal to people to get in touch with us. Any information could prove vital in helping officers track these men down."
