Police appeal over shooting and attack in Castlemilk

Police have appealed for information after a man was shot and another man was seriously injured during a fight at a house in Glasgow's Castlemilk area.

A 27-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound and a 42-year-old man suffered a serious head injury during the incident in Barlia Drive at 02:45 on Sunday.

The gunshot victim is in a serious but stable condition while the 42-year-old is said to be in a critical condition.

Police have stepped up patrols in the area and appealed for witnesses.

The 27-year-old man is being treated at the Golden Jubilee Hospital, Clydebank.

Residents 'shocked'

The 42-year-old man is being treated at the Southern General Hospital.

Strathclyde Police said officers would continue to carry out door-to-door inquiries in an effort to establish the exact circumstances surrounding this incident.

Det Insp Scott McMillan said: "This is a small community and this incident has shocked many residents. We are still in the early stages of this investigation, and we are working to establish a motive for these serious crimes.

"I would appeal to anyone who may know anything about this incident or those involved to please get in touch with us.

"Two men have been left seriously injured and we need to establish how this happened."
