Woman raped in Glasgow city centre attack

Detectives are hunting two men after an 21-year-old woman was raped in Glasgow city centre.

The attack took place in McCormack Lane after the woman was grabbed while walking along Buchanan Street in the early hours of Sunday 30 January.

Strathclyde Police are looking for two white men in their 30s, who were wearing dark coloured clothing.

Officers urged a woman who entered the lane at about 0230 GMT and may have seen the men involved to come forward.

The men made off in the direction of Buchanan Street, with one heading north and the other heading south.

'Busy area'

Det Sgt Duncan Cameron said: "This young woman is understandably extremely distressed and upset by her ordeal and it is vital that we find the men responsible.

"Officers are continuing inquiries and are checking CCTV from in and around the area which would have been busy with revellers leaving local nightclubs."

He added: "I am particularly keen to trace a woman who entered McCormack Lane around the time of the incident and may have witnessed the attack.

"I would ask her to come forward, any information she may have, no matter how insignificant, may be the final piece of the jigsaw we need to trace the two men responsible."

Officers also appealed for anyone else who may have witnessed something in the area at the time to contact the police.
