Man stabbed by gang of youths in Govan

A 21-year-old man has been left seriously injured with stab wounds after he was attacked by a gang of six youths near Govan in Glasgow.

A spokesman for Strathclyde Police said he was assaulted as he walked along Mallaig Road in the Drumoyne area with a male friend at about 0030 GMT.

He is now in a stable condition at the Southern General Hospital. His friend was not injured.

Det Con Mark McLennan said: "This was a totally unprovoked attack."

He added: "I'd like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this attack or anyone who may have seen the group of youths hanging around the area either before, or after, the attack."

One of the attackers was wearing a white tracksuit.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Strathclyde Police or Crimestoppers.
