Man found with head injury in Shettleston dies

A man who was discovered with a serious head injury in Glasgow at the weekend has died in hospital.

The 33-year-old was found near the Marquis pub in Shettleston Road on Saturday night.

Strathclyde Police are trying to trace a woman who went into the police office opposite the pub to report the discovery at about 2045 GMT.

They said there was nothing to suggest the man was the victim of an assault, and his injuries were unexplained.

Russian hat

Det Sgt Eddie Waye said: "We are extremely saddened to hear of the man's death this morning, and are thoughts are with his family and friends.

"From the inquiry point of view, we still aren't certain whether he was assaulted or if it was accidental, and are still looking for anyone with any information on what happened to contact us."

He renewed his appeal for the woman who went into the police office to get in touch.

"She was wearing a Russian-style furry hat and she may have information that could help us," he said.

"Also, a woman called CID on Sunday evening however didn't leave her contact details. I would urge this woman to please get in touch with us again."
