Police identify decomposed body found in Glasgow flat

Police investigating the suspicious death of a man - whose badly decomposed body was found in his Glasgow home - have identified him.

Hugh Boyd, 57, originally from Wishaw, North Lanarkshire, was found at his housing association flat in Old Dumbarton Road, Yorkhill, on 1 October.

It is believed he may have lain there for several months.

Police said they were treating his death as suspicious following a post-mortem examination.

Forensic inquiries are still ongoing into the exact cause of death.

Last movements

Det Ch Insp Robbie Allan, of Strathclyde Police, said: "We believe that the man may have been lying in the flat for a considerable time and a dedicated team of officers are involved in establishing his last movements in order for them to move this investigation forward.

"Mr Boyd lived alone in the flat and had a small number of friends, who we are still trying to trace.

"He is originally from the Wishaw area and has been living in Glasgow since 2002. He had also spent time in the Stirling area before moving to Glasgow."

Det Ch Insp Robbie Allan asked anyone who knew Mr Boyd to contact him.
