Teenage girl indecently assaulted in Drongan

A 17-year-old girl has been indecently assaulted while walking her dog along a nature trail in Ayrshire.

Police said the teenager was walking along the Hannahston Community Woodland Nature Trail in Drongan when she was approached from behind by a man.

The assault happened between 1630 BST and 1730 BST on Thursday.

The suspect was described as being white, in his 20s, with short dark hair and of medium build. He was wearing a black T-shirt and dark trousers.

He ran off in the general direction of Watson Terrace.

Det Sgt Russell Andrew said: "This young woman has been subjected to a terrifying ordeal in broad daylight while simply enjoying walking her dog through the nature trail.

"She is understandably traumatised by this brutal attack and it is imperative that the male responsible is identified."

He appealed to anyone with information to contact police.
