Thieves attack man with cattle prod in Cowdenbeath

A man has been attacked with what appeared to be an electric cattle prod during a robbery in Fife.

The attack happened at about 19:30 on Monday near a garage in Cullaloe View, Cowdenbeath.

The 48-year-old handed over his mobile phone and a three-figure sum of money but was then given an electric shock with the device.

The attackers then ran off. The victim was uninjured and did not require medical attention.

The first attacker was described as white, in his late 30s, about 6ft tall and of medium build.

He was wearing a blue mechanics' overalls with a grey, hooded top. His face was covered by a bandana or similar item.

The second attacker was also a white man, about 5ft 8in, and of stocky build.

He was wearing a dark blue tracksuit, with black shoes or trainers. He was also wearing a bandana to cover his face.

Det Insp Kelly McEwan, of Police Scotland, said: "This was an appalling and violent attack, which has left the victim badly shaken.

"It is important that we trace the two men responsible as soon as possible and officers are currently conducting high visibility patrols in the area."
