Man in court over Bathgate knife attack

A 42-year-old man has been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged with attempted murder.

Gary Harkins appeared on petition at Livingston Sheriff Court following his arrest in connection with a stabbing outside a gym in Bathgate.

Dale Dickson, 26, suffered serious knife wounds to his throat and neck outside the Muscle Asylum gym in King Street, Bathgate, on Tuesday.

Mr Harkins, who is from Bathgate, made no plea or declaration.

He was committed for further examination. He made no application to be released on bail.

He is due to make a second appearance for full committal in about a week.

Mr Dickson was being treated in Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
