Two people have appeared in court in connection with a stabbing incident in West Lothian last weekend.

Christopher Houston, 28, and Sharon McSeveney or McFarlane, 33, appeared at Livingston Sheriff Court charged with assault to injury and attempted murder.

Police had appealed for information after a 36-year-old man was attacked in his home in Whitburn on Saturday.

The pair made no plea or declaration and were both committed for further examination.

Mr Houston was remanded in custody and Ms McSeveney was released on bail.

Both were also accused of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner and vandalism.
