Taxi driver dies in two-vehicle crash on A1

A 72-year-old taxi driver has died following a two-vehicle crash on the A1 in Musselburgh, East Lothian.

The man was killed when his black cab was in collision with a Peugeot Boxer van on the southbound carriageway between the Old Craighall and Wallyford junctions at about 00:30 on Sunday.

The 53-year-old male driver of the van was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.

His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

Police closed the road for about six hours while they conducted an investigation into the crash.

They have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
