Three seriously hurt after car and bus crash near Prestonpans

Three people have been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a crash between a bus and a car in East Lothian.

Two men, aged 23 and 18, and a 16-year-old girl were in a white BMW which was involved in a crash with a Lothian bus near Prestonpans.

The accident happened at the Bankton roundabout at about 12:30 on Sunday. The six bus passengers were unhurt.

Police Scotland have appealed for witnesses.

A spokesman said: "The three occupants of the BMW, two males aged 18 and 23 and a female aged 16, sustained serious injuries and have been taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment.

"Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening but could be life-changing.

"Inquiries are ongoing into the full circumstances and anyone with information is asked to contact officers on 101."
