Lorry driver dies after crashing into bollard

An HGV driver has died after his lorry came off the road and hit a bollard on the A71 in West Lothian.

The incident happened at about 10:00 on Monday near the Wilderness Roundabout, just outside Polbeth.

The 60-year-old man was found unconscious and taken to St John's Hospital in Livingston but died later.

A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal. The road was temporality closed and reopened at about 15:30. Police are appealing for witnesses.

Sgt Gary Taylor, of Police Scotland, said: "This is a tragic incident which has resulted in the death of a man.

"We are eager to establish the full circumstances of this collision and wish to speak to any witnesses who may have been in the local area."
