Pedestrian, 83, 'critical' after crash in Methil

An 83-year-old woman has been seriously injured after being hit by a car in Methil in Fife.

Police said the pedestrian was hit on Wellesley Road at about 12:30 on Saturday.

She was treated at the scene and then taken to Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy, where she is in a critical condition.

The driver of the silver Hyndai i20 which collided the woman was uninjured. Police Scotland have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

The incident happened hear the junction with Patterson Street. The road was temporarily closed for about an hour while initial inquiries were carried out.

Sgt James Henry: "We are currently investigating this collision and we are eager to speak to anyone who may have witnessed it.

"I would ask that anyone who was on Wellesley Road around 12.30pm on Saturday, November 5, and has information that can assist our inquiries, to come forward and get in touch with us immediately."
