Man, 74, injured after being hit by car in Edinburgh

A 74-year-old man has been seriously injured after being hit by a car in Edinburgh.

Police said the pedestrian was involved in a collision with a blue Suzuki SX4 at the junction of Gorgie Road and Wardlaw Place at about 19:10 on Saturday.

He was taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where he remains in a serious condition.

Gorgie Road was temporarily closed while investigations were carried. Police appealed for witnesses.

Insp Richard Latto said: "This was a serious collision and we are eager to speak to anyone who may have information.

"I would asked anyone who was in the Gorgie Road area around 7.10pm on Saturday, and witnessed this collision, to get in touch with us as soon as possible."
