Man hurt after being hit by skip on Lothian Road in Edinburgh

A man has been taken to hospital after being hit by a skip on a busy Edinburgh road.

The 52-year-old was struck at about 07:00 on Lothian Road in the city centre. Police Scotland said he suffered minor injuries.

It is understood the skip was being hoisted at the time and then swung into him.

The incident caused delays in the area during the morning rush hour. The road has now reopened.

A police spokeswoman said: "The public are thanked for their patience."
