A 52-year-old man has denied murdering father-of-two Darren Adie by repeatedly stabbing him on the body in Fife.

Gordon Coventry is accused of killing 42-year-old Mr Adie in Spey Avenue, Kirkcaldy, on 28 May.

Mr Coventry is further charged with assaulting Mr Adie by throwing stones and having scissors in his possession on 7 May at Overton Mains, Kirkcaldy.

He is also accused of being concerned in the supply of cannabis and cannabis resin between 1 January and 13 June.

At the High Court in Glasgow, Mr Coventry offered to plead guilty to the drugs charge, but this was not accepted by prosecutor Bernard Ablett.

The accused, who is on remand at Saughton Prison in Edinburgh, was making his first appearance at the court.

Judge Lord Boyd set a trial date for 3 April 2017 at the High Court at Dunfermline.
