Masked robbers steal four-figure sum in Methil house raid

Two men wearing balaclavas robbed a couple after breaking into a house in Fife.

The incident happened at about 17:00 on Sunday at a house in Methil Brae in Methil.

A 30-year-old woman and 23-year-old man were in the house when the masked men broke-in and stole a four-figure sum of money.

Both men then ran off, leaving the occupants shocked but uninjured, police said.

One of the robbers was white, 5ft 8ins tall, of stocky build and was wearing a black balaclava, black jacket and black trousers.

The second was white, 5ft 8ins tall, of stocky build and was wearing a black balaclava and a red Adidas top with white stripes on the sleeves.

Det Sgt Paula Warrender, of Police Scotland, said: "Neither victim was injured but both were left understandably distressed and upset as a result of this robbery.

"Anyone who remembers seeing any suspicious activity in or around Methil Brae on Sunday evening is asked to contact police immediately.

"In addition, anyone who recognises the suspects should also get in touch."
