Rail delays after man hit by train at Polmont station

Rail services are facing major disruption after a man was fatally injured by a train near Falkirk.

The man was struck just before 09:00 at Polmont station. Edinburgh to Glasgow Queen Street via Falkirk High and Edinburgh to Dunblane services have been disrupted.

Buses are running for Stirling, Edinburgh Waverley, Falkirk High, Falkirk Grahamston and Linlithgow.

ScotRail said passengers should check their website for latest updates.

Passengers travelling between Edinburgh and Glasgow Queen Street can use Milngavie and Helensburgh Central services via Glasgow Queen Street low level.

Passengers at Stirling can travel to Queen Street high level for a connecting train to Edinburgh via Queen Street low level.

Rail users can apply for compensation if services that are delayed for 30 minutes or longer.

A ScotRail spokeswoman said: "Sadly, due to a person being struck by a train between Falkirk High and Edinburgh Park, services through these stations are currently disrupted.

"Passengers are advised to check our website or app for the most up to date information before travelling."
