Police patrols after girl, 9, approached at play park

Police have begun high-visibility patrols after a young girl was approached by a man in Livingston.

A nine-year-old girl was at play park near Ambrose Rise in the Dedridge area at about 16:15 on Friday when a man tried to put his hands on her.

The suspect, who is of Indian, Pakistani or Bangladeshi appearance, made off towards St Ninian's School.

A police spokesman said it appeared to have been an isolated incident but they wanted to provide a visible presence.

The suspect was 18-20-years-old, and about 5ft 10in.

He was wearing a light-grey hooded top, grey skinny jeans and spoke with a Scottish accent.
