Police have issued an appeal after a 14-year-old boy went missing from his home in Kirkcaldy.

Lucas Thomson, who has Tourette's Syndrome and a facial tick, was last seen on Saturday evening.

Officers said he left his home in Standing Stane Road at about 20:00 and has not yet returned.

In a statement, they said "concern is growing" for the welfare of the teenager and they appealed for help in locating him.

Lucas is 5ft 4in tall and of slim build. He has short hair with a flick at the front and a fair complexion.

When Lucas was last seen, he was wearing a maroon Adidas zip-up hooded top with white stripes on the arms, black jogging bottoms and orange Adidas trainers.

Sgt Scott Maxwell said: "Lucas knows the Kirkcaldy, Glenrothes and Markinch areas of Fife very well and has a number of friends within each of these towns.

"As such we are pursuing various lines of inquiry in these areas to locate him and anyone who knows where he is should contact police immediately.

"I would also ask that Lucas get in touch to let us know he is safe."
