Man charged after elderly couple hurt in car smash in Oakley in Fife

A 27-year-old man has been charged with various road traffic offences following a two-vehicle crash in Fife.

The crash happened at 16:00 on Sunday on Sir George Bruce Road in Oakley, near Dunfermline.

The incident involved a silver Honda vehicle was involved in a collision with a blue Renault Scenic car.

The two elderly people in the Renault have been discharged from hospital. The man is due to appear at Dunfermline Sheriff Court on Thursday 9 June.

Police Scotland has referred the crash to the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner (Pirc).

A Pirc spokeswoman said: "Police Scotland has referred the circumstances surrounding a road traffic incident in Oakley, Fife, on Sunday 15 May to the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner.

"We are currently in the process of assessing whether there is a requirement to investigate the matter."
