Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to trace in connection with an assault in Edinburgh.

A 51-year-old man was headbutted outside The Jam House on Queen Street in the early hours of 11 October.

He needed stitches and is likely to be permanently scarred as a result of the attack, police said.

Anyone who recognises the man in the footage is asked to contact police on the 101 number.

DC Carole Sneddon said: "The victim suffered a painful injury which required stitches and is likely to result in a permanent scar.

"The man pictured is believed to be of significance to our investigation and anyone who can assist in tracing him is asked to come forward.

"Similarly, we would ask this man to get in touch with police themselves and help with our investigation."
