Steven Davidson denies Meadows rape in Edinburgh
A man has gone on trial charged with raping a woman in an Edinburgh park.
Steven Davidson, 23, from Newtongrange in Midlothian, is accused of assaulting the 19-year-old in the Meadows area of the city on 15 November 2014.
Prosecutors claim Mr Davidson approached her from behind and placed his arm around her neck, causing her to lose consciousness, before raping her.
Mr Davidson denies the charge and the trial continues before Lady Stacey at the High Court in Edinburgh.
He also denies a further charge of being involved in the supply of cannabis at Nicolson Street and London Road in Edinburgh on 14 November.
The trial continues on Tuesday.
