A 7.5 tonne tractor unit has been found abandoned after it crashed into a bus shelter and a parked car shortly after it was stolen in Fife.

The Volvo HGV tractor unit was stolen from Naylor Drainage on Cowley Street, in Methil, at about 19:15 on Tuesday.

A short time later it hit a bus shelter and a car on Methilhaven Road before being abandoned on Kirkland Walk.

No-one was reported to have been injured. Police have appealed for information about the driver.

Sgt Craig Fyall, of Police Scotland, said: "It's obvious that the person responsible never had a clue how to drive this vehicle and their reckless actions could have resulted in people being injured or even worse.

"As a result there has been damage to a vehicle and a bus shelter.
