Picture of 'Scooby' issued over Edinburgh shop attack

CCTV images of a man thought to be nicknamed "Scooby" have been released in connection with the assault of a 34-year-old man in an Edinburgh shop.

The incident happened at about 19:00 on Friday, 4 September in Newsbox in South Clerk Street.

Detectives want to trace the man in the picture, as they believe he may be able to help with their inquiries.

The man is white, 5ft 11ins to 6ft tall, in his late 20s, of medium build and has a shaved/bald head.

He was wearing a blue coloured polo shirt, blue jeans and white trainers.

Det Con John McShane, of Police Scotland, said: "We are keen to establish the identity of the man pictured in the CCTV images and would urge anyone who recognises him, or who has any other information which can assist with our investigation, to contact police as soon as possible.

"It is believed the man has the nickname of 'Scooby' and is believed to be from the Edinburgh area."
