Boy indecently assaulted at Edinburgh bus stop

A 14-year-old boy was indecently assaulted by a man while waiting at a bus stop in Edinburgh.

The teenager was standing with friends at the bus stop on Glasgow Road, Ratho Station, at about 16:00 last Saturday when the incident happened.

The man assaulted the youth as he walked past the bus stop, heading towards Newbridge.

He was white, aged 40 to 60, with short grey hair. He was wearing a dark purple and grey waterproof and a tartan scarf.

The victim was uninjured and reported the matter to his parents later that evening before contacting police.

Police have been checking CCTV footage and carrying out door-to-door inquiries in the area and have appealed for anyone with information to get in touch.

Det Sgt Jonathan Pleasance, of Police Scotland, said: "The young victim was not injured during this incident, but it was obviously an unpleasant experience and we are keen to hear from anyone who can help us trace the suspect.

"If you remember seeing any suspicious activity in Glasgow Road last Saturday afternoon or remember seeing a male matching this description then please contact police immediately."
