Man in court over Meadows rape
A man has appeared in court charged with raping a 19-year-old woman in The Meadows in Edinburgh last year.
Steven Davidson, 23, is accused of attacking the woman in the central Edinburgh park on 15 November.
He was said to have approached her from behind, placed his arm around her neck causing her to lose consciousness.
Mr Davidson denied the accusations during a hearing at the High Court in Glasgow. Judge Lord Burns set another hearing due to take place next month.
The rape allegation also includes claims Mr Davidson restricted the woman's breathing by seizing her by the neck and that he pulled down her clothes.
The 23-year-old faces a separate charge of being concerned in the supply of cannabis in Edinburgh the previous day.
