Police investigate Prestonpans beach body find

Police have confirmed the identity of a man whose body was found on a beach at Prestonpans in East Lothian.

He was Scott Hamilton, a 27-year-old from the Port Seton area. His body was discovered by a dog walker at about 06:30 on Saturday.

Officers said the death was being treated as "unexplained", pending the results of a post-mortem examination.

An investigation is being carried out into the circumstances leading up to the discovery of Mr Hamilton's body.

Det Supt Pat Campbell said: "We are keen to speak to members of the public who may have come into contact with Scott Hamilton or who saw him on the afternoon of Friday 5th September through to the discovery of his body the following morning.

"Anyone with any information should contact Police Scotland on 101."
