Driver sought after hit and run in Edinburgh

Police in Edinburgh have appealed for witnesses after a man was injured in a hit and run in the city centre.

The incident happened at South Bridge near to the junction with High Street at about 04:00 on Friday 22 August.

The man, aged 20, was hit by a car thought to have been a Peugeot. The driver failed to stop and drove off towards North Bridge.

The man suffered minor injuries. Police said the car involved would now be missing a wing mirror.

PC Vicky Henretty said: "This was a frightening experience for the victim, made worse by the fact the driver of the car failed to stop.

"I am trying to find any witnesses who may have seen the registration number of the car, and urge him to come forward."
