Edinburgh's Christmas: Star Flyer stays closed for checks
A 200ft (60m) carnival ride in Edinburgh is to remain closed until Sunday after a large piece of plastic fell off the attraction.
Organisers of Edinburgh's Christmas said the Star Flyer would stay shut to allow full safety checks to be carried out.
The move was also in anticipation of strong winds forecast for Saturday.
The plastic, which was from the underside of a seat, fell to the ground in St Andrew Square.
No-one was injured in the incident, which happened at about 21:30 on Friday.
Event organisers Underbelly said public safety was "of paramount importance".
A statement released on Saturday read: "Star Flyer will therefore be closed to allow for full safety checks to be carried out, and in anticipation of strong winds forecast for later today.
"We expect the ride to be reopened on Sunday 15 December once it has passed its tests.
"We apologise for the incident last night which did not have any impact on the safety of the ride."
Tickets for Saturday's rides can either be refunded or exchanged for another date at the event's box office.
