Man stabbed in unprovoked row with couple in Livingston

A man is in hospital after being stabbed during a row with a couple in West Lothian.

The man was with a friend in Livingston at 19:15 on Wednesday when a man and woman started shouting at them on a path between Knightsridge and Houston Industrial Estate.

The two men were then punched in the face before one was stabbed in the abdomen.

He was taken to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.

The other man was not seriously injured during the attack.

Police are appealing for witnesses.

'Painful injury'

The first attacker was male, white, 6ft tall, of medium build with short brown hair.

He was clean-shaven and wearing a black hooded waterproof jacket with zips on the front, black jeans or tracksuit bottoms and plain white trainers.

The second attacker was female, white, about 20 years old, 5ft 5in tall, of skinny build, with freckles on her face and black hair that was just past her shoulders.

She and was wearing a black waterproof jacket with a high collar over a red/burgundy top, dark jeans and white trainers.

Det Sgt Paul Carroll, of Police Scotland, said: "This incident has resulted in one male sustaining a painful injury to his abdomen and we are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and saw the assaults taking place.

"Similarly, anyone who recognises the description of the suspects, or who has information that can assist with our inquiries is asked to contact police immediately."
