A pedestrian who was knocked down in an East Lothian supermarket car park has died.

William Watters, 68, from Prestonpans, was hit by a car in Tesco's car park in Olive Bank Road in Musselburgh on 10 October.

It is understood there was a four-car shunt in the car park before Mr Watters was knocked down.

He failed to recover from his chest and pelvic injuries in the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and passed away on Friday.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "A 68-year-old man who was seriously injured in a road traffic accident in Musselburgh earlier this month has succumbed to his injuries.

"A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal in due course."
