A couple who were found dead in the Scotsman Hotel, Edinburgh, last week have been named by police.

Igor Pavlov, 27, and 35-year-old Daria Kuchuk, from Russia, had been living in Edinburgh.

Their bodies were discovered by hotel staff at about 12:15 last Thursday.

Police said the couple's deaths were chemical-related and that inquiries had established that they took the chemical into the hotel with them.

A number of items seized from the room are still undergoing forensic analysis.

A search was carried out at an address in the Royal Mile last Friday, however, no further traces of chemicals were found.

Police said inquiries were still going on and the deaths were still being treated as unexplained.
