Police in Edinburgh are investigating the death of a man in the Tollcross area of the city.

The 31-year-old's body was found shortly before 1100 GMT at a flat in the city's Lauriston Place.

A spokesman for Lothian and Border Police said the death was being treated as "suspicious".

Officers are at the scene and the property has been cordoned off. Details of the man's identity have yet to be released.

Det Insp Matt Richards said: "Our inquiries are currently at an early stage, however we do believe the man's death to be suspicious.

"The block of flats is in Lauriston Place, opposite Glen Street, and we are appealing to anyone who was in the area this morning, who saw or heard anything suspicious, to contact police immediately.

"Similarly, anyone else who has any information that can assist our inquiries should also get in touch."

Mr Richards said the force would increase patrols in the area to reassure the public.
