Man and woman in court over death in Edinburgh

A man and a woman have appeared in court in connection with the murder of a 43-year-old man who died at a block of flats in Edinburgh.

William McPhee died following a disturbance at Craigour Place in the Gilmerton area on Tuesday night.

William McArdle, 24, and 18-year-old Chanelle Barrett appeared on petition at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.

They made no plea or declaration and were both remanded in custody until their next court appearance in a week.

The pair were also charged with attempted murder after the stabbing of a second 41-year-old man on the same evening at the same location.
